Are Thai people rich?

When I came to Thailand last time, I didn’t cook so much, but I wanna cook this time as much as I can.
(But there was no kitchen at Joe’s shop, so it was very hard though..)

When I cook breakfast, it’s like these.

Bread, egg, sausage, salad, fruit and yoghurt.

If there was rice from last night, I cooked rice soup.

If I didn’t cook, Joe brought rice soup, chicken and soy milk.

About lunch,

I cooked Chicken Teriyaki burger,

Japanese curry and rice,

Okonomiyaki,

carbonara,

Tomato based pasta many times as it’s my favorite.

If I didn’t cook, Joe ordered delivery.

About dinner,

sometimes we went to Mugata, Thai BBQ,

sometimes Mugata at Beer’s house.

If sometime Joe’s friend come to Khao Yai, we went to dinner with them.
One day, we went to dinner with rich guys, Beer and his friend Peter at Mid Winter, expensive restaurant.

Joe sometime said he wanted take me to the restaurant someday, but it was good time we could join their dinner.
But I worried about the price a little bit.

But Joe said “Peter sometimes order about 2000B(about 7000yen) wine though, he pay every time”

I surprised about the price but if Peter pay it, it’s OK, I thought.

When we arrived at Mid Winter, Peter already there and he ate something small dish with wine.
We sat down on the table, then Beer came at last, then we ordered.

Is that a best table where we can see the stage front?

Well, I knew Peter at temple festival once, but I didn’t know about him except he is rich.
Peter spoke fluently English, he started talking he have been to Japan.
His company work about something car racing, he came to Japan for his business. When he came to Japan, some important person from Toyota company showed him around.

Wow.. it means he is such important person to Japan…

When he went to Tokyo, his group went to expensive Tempra restaurant in Ginza, they ordered Sake, it was around 200,000yen!!

Peter graduated university in Swiss, he can speak German too.
I asked him speak French too.

But he said he doesn’t as he doesn’t like France.

Because when he went to France, no one helped him when he asked something on a road, and when he went to Louis Vuitton’s central branch, the staff’s behavior was not good. He felt like they thought Thai people poor.

But I think maybe it’s not for Thai people, for Asian people? Some years ago many Japanese people also went to Paris to buy expensive bags so much, they were not good feeling at that time too..

But Peter said Thailand is rich country, he didn’t understand why many people think Thailand is poor.

I didn’t understand why he say such story at that time, just I kept smiling.

Then we checked out our price…2000B(about 7000yen) for us(Joe and I)
What!! Peter didn’t pay wine for us!?

When I searched in Internet, Thai people don’t split the bill, but for my eyes so far, they split the bill all the time…(Joe pay for me though.)

I really surprised why so expensive, we ordered just 4 dishes but we pay 3500yen each!?
The taste were just normal.

After dinner, on the way back home, I asked to Joe.

“Peter didn’t pay for wine…”
“I see, but he have paid almost the time though”
“By the way, Peter said Thailand is rich”
“Well, he is too rich, he doesn’t know Thailand is still poor”
“What!?!? Is it possible!? How he can’t know when he drive through around Thailand!?”
“All his friends are rich, he just go rich place, he doesn’t walk along street, he doesn’t know down town”

I really surprised it…!!

“But he is not bad person, just he doesn’t know other world”

Oh…I see…it’s surprising…

Well…please pay wine for us…anyway.
